Guest Blogger - Crafty Blonde Chick - 2x4 Candy Corn

I am so excited to be a guest blogger on Someday Crafts! I am Tricia from

I have enjoyed starting a blog about my crafting hobby and want to give a huge thank you to Michelle for asking me to guest on her blog!

I am going to be showing you how to make some 2x4 Candy Corn. These are simple to make and make use of scrap pieces of wood. If any of you have a husband that likes to do projects, then you probably have an abundance of scrap wood like I do.

Supplies needed:
2x4 wood
yellow, orange, and white paint
sandpaper
Chop Saw or handsaw
hemp twine or ribbon

Start out by cutting your wood using the chop saw at a 15 degree angle. I cut it once and then flipped it around so I didn't have to adjust the angle again. Make sure to leave a little of the flat edge on top to resemble the real candy corn.

Your candy corn should look like this now:

Next sand the edges and get ready to paint! I use painters tape and do a stripe down the middle so I can paint the top and bottom of each in the same step. Make sure to do the top and bottom and all sides!

When paint is dry you can pull the tape off and have a straight edge to paint the last color in.

Last but not least, when the painting is completed, sand the edges and distress the candy corn. I added some hemp twine around the middle candy corn to add something extra. Halloween or fall ribbon would look darling too.

Put them on a shelf or table and enjoy your new halloween/fall decorations! They really are that simple!

Thanks again to Michelle and come check out

for more crafts that I have done.

Thanks,
Tricia @ craftyblondechick.blogspot.com

Turn a Deck into A Pergola and Planter Box

I didn't get around to doing a party highlight post yesterday. Too much to do with the baby and family!

However, I wanted to show off this idea. Blue Babes Create had an old deck that was falling apart. She took the wood from the deck and created a pergola and some garden boxes. I love this idea! I wish I had an old deck to do this to. Even if you don't have an old deck, putting an a pergola is a great idea for a backyard.

Giant Domino Decor

A Little Tipsy is redecorating her game room and made these large dominoes as a decor element. How fun! Even cooler than that is how the numbers on the dominoes represent her anniversary date! I love that the dominoes have some meaning!

Party Highlights!

Here are some unique and interesting ideas from the Whatever Goes Wednesday Party today!

Turn roman shades into a very interesting looking vase! The texture and lines of it are beautiful. Learn how at Bon Temps Beignet.

This gardening idea from The Dragon's Fairytail is an awesome one! She planted lettuce in a rain gutter. I think this would work for herbs too! It is even attached to her house so it looks like a flower planter. So cool!

I wish there was a lot of driftwood nearby me because I would make a driftwood planter! Learn how to make this at Craftberry Bush!

How cute are these decorative spools made from branches? Totally cute! See these at Homework: Be Inspired.

This idea for sidewalk paint is going in my summer "TO DO" file box! My kids will love this stuff and paint the whole sidewalk! Thanks Stampin' and Craftin'.

If you are LDS, you know the scripture mastery verses. Scripture Mastery are very important verses to which Christians should have quick reference. Download the stickers for each set of scripture (Old Testament, New Testament, BOM and D&C) at Ten Cow Chick!

I love chairs that have been turned into planters - like this at Taking Time To Smell The Flowers. So pretty (and that red just "pops.")
