Wednesday Party Highlights

I missed posting some party highlights this week because my computer was not cooperating! Here are a few lovely projects that I would love to see in my house or do!

I want a couple shelves filled with these Restoration Hardware industrial basket knock-offs at my house. I have quite a few shelves that would more stylish with these babies! Blissfully Ever After is the creator of these!

Have the style of Ballard Design without the high cost by building these cafe shelves by yourself. Great tutorial by That Village House.

I'm loving how A Little Tipsy glammed up her builder grade bathroom mirror by adding some frosting around the edges. (That sounds funny!) Pretty, Pretty frosted-edged mirror!

Check out these gorgeous skinny ruffled headbands at Flamingo Toes! So pretty and feminine.

I've never met a kid who didn't like to play in water with their hands. This water wall looks like so much fun! A Family That Birds Together has some happy children because of this contraption!

Summer Kid Activities - Sand Dough, Puffy Paint & Chalk Spray

Hi y'all! I am busy planning my two oldest kids' birthday party. So far, 30 kids have RSVP'd! It's going to be a BIG party!

Since I have "summer kids birthday parties" on my mind this week, I've been looking for fun kid ideas. Here are a couple I've found that I'm not using for their party, but will definitely be doing with my kids!

I love this idea of sand dough found on Hope Studios (originally published by Family Fun Magazine.) She made a mixture made mostly of sand that can be sculpted and will turn hard.

Sand castles and other creations can be made into kids' works of art to display using this sand dough recipe!

Another activity I know my kids will love is getting dirty using puffy paint! Not only is like finger paint, but it is 3-D! Totally cool! Get the puffy paint recipe from Life In The Dub Lane.

Kids love sidewalk chalk. Moms like me don't love how it gets all over their clothes, hands and face! This chalk spray from Infarrantly Creative sounds like a great compromise! I think my kids might actually like chalk spray more since it comes from a spray bottle!!! They love to squirt things.

Fabulous Party Links!

There are some fabulous ideas linked up today! Here are a few I Loved!!!!

These expensive looking night stands were created using aluminum foil - not silver leaf! They are gorgeous! Check out how to make faux silver leaf furniture at Red Hen Home.

Frou-FruGal turned three chairs into a stunning bench. What a fabulous idea!!!! I think this is one of the most beautiful benches I have ever seen.

This watermelon skirt from Sun Scholars is such a fun idea for the summer! Definitely a cute idea!

I've long loved the nursery at Kara's Korner. The day bed, the bookshelves, the wall art, the closet....EVERYTHING. Visit this post to see a nursery tour and get links to every project she did for this amazing room.

I love what Embracing Change did with an old door! She made it into a chic table with subway art on the top. The whole package (including the chairs) was inexpensive and is OH SO DARLING! I need to learn how to use FreeCycle. I want this for a outdoor table at my house!

Guest Blogger - Running With Glitter - Water Balloon Flip Flops and Barrette

Hello, Someday Crafts readers. I'm very honored to be here today. It's like Christmas morning that I get to be a guest here! My name is Kelly, and I write a fun little DIY blog called Running With Glitter.

Running With Glitter

I'm a mommy to two littles and a wife to one cool CPA. I try to include my children in my crafting as much as possible. So you will find lots of family friendly recipes and projects over at my blog.

This is me and my daughter Aubrey Rose.{you would never know that she was a micro preemie born at 26 weeks!} She was the inspiration for the name of my blog. We were making Christmas ornaments and she ran thru the house with a glitter shaker. It went everywhere. I said in my mommy voice.. "No running with glitter" It cracked us both up. I don't mind a little glitter on my floor as long as fun is had. And my son, Adrian, usually has sparkles on his forehead from glittery mommy lipgloss kisses. I don't mind that either. Sparkles on the floor, sparkles on the skin, sparkles of happiness in our hearts....

The following are three of my favorite projects!

Boo Boo Box Tutorial

Butterfly Garland

Glass Marble Beauties

Summer is in full force, and it's time to head to the pool.
Today I'm going to share with you how to up-do a plain pair of
little girl flip flops and make them full of summer fun
!

Whats more fun than water balloons? Water balloons on your shoes!!

Here is how you can make these .....

  1. Supplies Needed: Water balloons and flip flops. I found both at Target. Total cost $3.50

  2. You need a total of 5 balloons per group. Stack 4 balloons on top of each other, ends facing opposite direction.

  3. Time to attach these guys to your shoes. Take your 5th balloon {mine is the yellow balloon in the picture} and use it to tie your stack of 4 balloons to the flip flop. This can be a bit tricky, but after doing it a couple of times, you'll be a pro. If it becomes too tricky to tie with the balloon, you could always use a strong string or something similar.

  4. I tied 4 stacks of balloons to each side, a pinky finger tip width apart. So a total of 80 water balloons per shoe. There you have it. A super fun pair of flip flops that just screams summer!

Wait there is one more thing.. You need a matching hair bow to match your shoes, right?!

  1. Remove metal prong from center of clip. Stack your balloons together.

  2. Tie the sets of balloons to your hair clip just like you did on your flip flops

  3. Re-insert the metal clip. Turn over and make adjustments to even out the balloons as necessary

  4. Tada! Done! Was that quick and easy or what!

Thank you again for letting me share today.

  5. If you would like to see more of my projects, you can check out my my Tutorial Page Here. There are lots of goodies there. I hope that you will drop by the Glitter Blog sometime and visit.

  6. Running With Glitter

Mom said don't run with scissors.... but she did not mention glitter!

KELLY, Thanks for that fun, easy tutorial. My daughter (and son) would love some flip flops made with balloons! I love your writing style too! Hop over to Run With Glitter to check out more of Kelly's cuteness!

2 Fun Food Presentations for Summer Treats!

I wanted to highlight a few fun ways to present healthy summertime treats!!!

What an astonishing summer party treat! My son would think this is the coolest thing because this watermelon is in the figure of a shark! Perfect for a birthday, bbq or any other get-together. Sun Scholars walk you through how to make a watermelon shark!

My kids would love eating these melon boats. Made from canteloupe, jello, applesauce and fresh fruit, it is the perfect treat for a hot summer day. The presentation makes it all the more attractive to kiddos! These were created by Green Acres Hobby Farm.

One of the ideas I will definitely be doing this summer with my kids is making a painted rock garden contributed by Living With Punks! My kids will eat this idea up. I'm not so sure the rocks will look as cute as these, but they will be colorful!

Party Highlights!

Here are some unique and interesting ideas from the Whatever Goes Wednesday Party today!

Turn roman shades into a very interesting looking vase! The texture and lines of it are beautiful. Learn how at Bon Temps Beignet.

This gardening idea from The Dragon's Fairytail is an awesome one! She planted lettuce in a rain gutter. I think this would work for herbs too! It is even attached to her house so it looks like a flower planter. So cool!

I wish there was a lot of driftwood nearby me because I would make a driftwood planter! Learn how to make this at Craftberry Bush!

How cute are these decorative spools made from branches? Totally cute! See these at Homework: Be Inspired.

This idea for sidewalk paint is going in my summer "TO DO" file box! My kids will love this stuff and paint the whole sidewalk! Thanks Stampin' and Craftin'.

If you are LDS, you know the scripture mastery verses. Scripture Mastery are very important verses to which Christians should have quick reference. Download the stickers for each set of scripture (Old Testament, New Testament, BOM and D&C) at Ten Cow Chick!

I love chairs that have been turned into planters - like this at Taking Time To Smell The Flowers. So pretty (and that red just "pops.")
