Turn a Deck into A Pergola and Planter Box

I didn't get around to doing a party highlight post yesterday. Too much to do with the baby and family!

However, I wanted to show off this idea. Blue Babes Create had an old deck that was falling apart. She took the wood from the deck and created a pergola and some garden boxes. I love this idea! I wish I had an old deck to do this to. Even if you don't have an old deck, putting an a pergola is a great idea for a backyard.

Don't throw away that cake container that came with the cake you bought from the store. Keep it and turn it into a planter for the flowers on your front porch! Cheap, easy, "green" and cute. That's what Choose To Thrive does!

Earth Day Cereal Box Activities (3)

Infarrantly Creative has some great ideas for reusing cereal boxes to make 3 different items. The first idea is to make notebooks with cereal boxes as the covers.

The second is to make
food boxes into postcards. These are actually really cute!

And the third is to make a colorful art display using food boxes too.

Check all three out and start reusing the items we either recycle or throw away! The best thing we can do is to reduce our garbage output!

Reusuable Lunch Bag

With it being Earth Week, I've been thinking a lot lately about how much garbage we throw out. Where I work, most of the people are very earth conscious and reduce and reuse and recycle. Their shopping bags, wrapping paper, lunch sacks and more are reusuable.

I like this idea from Krafting With K for a reusable lunch bag. It can be used over and over again without waste. A great project to make for Earth Day.

Bottlecap Candles

Miniature things are so cute! (Just like babies because they are miniatures!!!) I'm crushing on these candles made from bottlecaps at Craftaholics Anonymous. They are so little and and a great recycled craft.
