A Freakin' Fantastic Nursery For A BOY!!!

I am LOVING this little boy nursery. Everything about it is clean, fresh, fun and inventive! Check out that alphabet wall, the chevron shelves (that's what I want to call them) and the bright colored fabrics and paint.

I'm also loving the idea of embroidery hoops that look like balls. See that one that looks like a baseball. You could also make on of a basketball, tennis ball, bowling ball, etc. What a great idea for boys! Once again, there are too many great ways to spend time creating! It is so hard to choose creations to feature each week. Here are a few!

Make an easy and inexpensive headboard with the help of A Step In The Journey. This would look so cute in a beachy type bedroom (or really any type of bedroom.)

It is hard to find short sleeve, light weight cardigans for warm/hot weather. However, with this idea from Life Is Just A Bowl Of Cherries, a summer cardigan is totally doable. She made a cardigan from a t-shirt! Sweet! (It would look great even on someone who is NOT pregnant!)

I love all things bandana so these bandana shorts/pants tutorial stood out to me. I think the paisley bandanas would make adorable short/pants. See the tutorial at Ginger Snap Crafts.

Guest Blogger - Nickles and Dimes - Wrought Iron Headboard

Hey Guys! I am Ashton. I started my blog Nickles & Dimes to share all of my crafty creations with you! If you like them, post my button on your site.

I am super excited to be guest posting here at Someday Crafts. It is one of my favorite blogs. The cute ideas are endless. Take a look at my new headboard and let me know what you think. I am really hoping you love it as much as I do.

When I decided to move last year, I also I decided I wanted to redecorate my bedroom. I started the redecoration process by searching for a bed. My first stop was Anthropologie. As always, I fell in love with something way outside my price range. I emailed a picture of the bed to my mom. Thankfully, she was game for trying to recreate the beautiful headboard. This is my favorite project!

Supplies:
Decorative wrought iron piece
2 2X4's
3 add a leg kits
Spray paint
Epoxy

1. Find your wrought iron pieces. My mom and I started our search at estate sales, but weren't finding anything. We decided to change to antique/junk type stores. That is where we found the pieces I used. One piece wasn't large enough. I called a welder, he stopped by my house and welded the two pieces together in about 5 minutes. It wasn't very expensive either.

Notice all the stuff in the background? My parents and I just had what we so kindly call the "Great Debate" again. It is over why I hoard random objects in our garage and say they are for crafts. Have any of you ever had that conversation?

2. Cut your two 2X4's to the length you want your iron pieces (remember most hardware stores will cut the wood for you) and nail them together.

3. Hold the iron piece on top of your wood. Mark where the legs touch the wood. Drill a hole where you marked, large enough for the legs to fit.

Dad was kind enough to drill the holes for me.

My little brother Cody was a great help!

4. Fill the holes with epoxy and insert the iron piece into the wood.

We squirted out the epoxy and then used a popsicle stick to get the epoxy into the holes. You may want to wear gloves. Epoxy will not come off easily!

6. Once the epoxy is dry, spray paint the base of the head board. Also, spray paint the legs to match.

7. Next, attach your legs. This part was really simple I just bought the little kit (pictured below) and screwed them to the base. I measured the height of the bed frame and had the hardware store cut the legs to fit.

8. Then stand the head board up right and screw the bed frame into the base of the headboard.

9. Finally, reassemble your bed.

This is the final product. I am in LOVE!!

DIY Driftwood Shelf

Projects done using driftwood are gorgeous (in my opinion.) This driftwood shelf is rocking my world today! I absolutely love it! I also love the master bedroom in which it was placed at Growing Up Gardner. My husband will love that next time we go to a lake, I will bring home a pile of driftwood:)

Wall Painted Headboards

Are you wanting a specific headboard, but either can't find it or can't afford it? Not a problem. Just paint it on the wall. It's an inexpensive solution that can be changed with a coat of paint when you want something else. This beautiful painted on headboard is from The 2 Seasons.

Pottery Barn Knock-off - Rose Petal Canopy

When I saw this Pottery Barn canopy, I knew that just about any young girl would LOVE it! All Things Belle created one for a girl's room! What a perfect accessory to the room of a princess!

Rocker Frames (Perfect for Boys!!!!) A MUST SEE!

This genius idea is from The Pampered Mom and I am stunned by the extreme coolness of it! She made these diamond plate frames/mats with stickers from the car parts store. A teen or tween boy would think this is The BOMB!!! It's not often that I find crafty teen boy ideas. Perfect for a bedroom (or workshop)!

Some Party Beauties!

I never could highlight all the beautiful and tasty creations at every party! It's so hard! But here are a few that I love!!!!

Seven Thirty Three made over her master bedroom and it is to die for!!! I'm loving the colors and design. But most of all, I love that beadboard wall headboard! It looks awesome!

I'm loving this ruffle refashioned shirt from See Kate Sew! Darling and super stylish!

Chameleon Girls made this outrageously cool book lamp! Such a great idea for one who loves books (and can part with a few!!!)

What do you do with all those plastic eggs left over from Easter? Especially the ones that have one side broken or lost? Well, you should make a few into these plastic egg tea cups like The Moody Fashionista. Such a fun idea!!!

I want to plant some flowers in some rain boots! I love this spring display from Blueberry Craft and Hobby Time.

Pallet Headboard

I've seen quite a few unique things done with pallets and this headboard is no exception. I think it looks great!!! It's so out of the ordinary! The texture, the depth, the positive and negative space are definitely eye-catching. Too Much Time On My Hands created this for her son's room.

Guest Blogger - House of Hepworth - Duct Tape Decor!

I hope you enjoy my fun project I've whipped up just for you guys!


I wanted a fun fresh project to share here at Someday Crafts. After playing around with a few ideas, I came up with...

Duct Tape accessories!



Seriously, how fun are these? And I made them all with objects I had lying around my house and a little bit of printed Duct Tape.

I found this fun Duct Tape at the store and knew I had to incorporate it into a project.



For the storage boxes, I found three identical shipping boxes. I taped the bottoms shut and cut off the top flaps.



I started by adding the Duct Tape around the entire top of the box. I left enough to fold it over to create a finished edge.




Once it's around the box, just fold it over the edge.



After the top edge was folded I simply and easily wrapped the duct tape around each box. In total, it took 4 layers to cover the boxes.



I wanted some fun accessories to go with the cute boxes for my daughter's shelf, so I searched my home and found this tissue box.



The duck theme in their bathroom is getting retired soon, so I added Duct Tape to the tissue box as well.

The top was a little tricky. I taped across the hole, then got a razor blade and cut little triangles around the hole and folded them all under the inside of the tissue box. Here's a picture of the inside of the box:



My boxes were cute, but still a little boring, so I found some hot pink grosgrain ribbon and hot glued it around the top and bottom of each box. Then I tied some bows and glued them on as well.

Now my daughter has some fun accessories for her bedroom!



I was having so much fun taping everything in site, so I added some of the funky Duct Tape to a candle as well!



I do want to mention though, this candle is strictly for decorative purposes ONLY. I will never burn it. If you attempt this project, do not burn the candle. The Duct Tape and ribbon are both extremely flammable!!

Aren't they just so fun?! What little girl wouldn't want hot pink and zebra print accessories?

My total cost was about $8.00. Each roll of Duct Tape is around $4.00 and this project took 2 rolls. All the other accessories, I already had on hand.
