Guest Blogger - Taylor Made - Bandit Bib

Hi, my name is Taylor and I write a blog called

TaylorMade.

It's about all of my favorite things... crafts, art, food, home and family. I went to college for costume design, became a flight attendant, then an elementary school teacher, now I have my favorite job of all - Mommy. I have a bad obsession with hoarding fabric, Mod Podge and Reality TV. I will use anything and everything for inspiration for a project..

I present to you... The Bandit Bib. It might be the next big thing :) I get bored with "regular" bibs so this is a little more exciting.





What you need:


- 1 fat quarter for the front

- 1 fat quarter for the back (I use flannel, jersey or terrycloth for the backs)

- snap kit

- TaylorMade Bandit Bib Pattern






Let's get started:

Print the pattern for the Bandit Bib HERE (just save it to your computer and print on a full page :) Cut out a front and a back. I like to use an absorbent fabric for the backs of my bibs like terry cloth or flannel.




Put right sides together, pin and sew. Leave a small opening so you can flip it.





Don't forget to clip the corners and the round tip.



Press and top stitch around the bib.





Time for snaps (which I love). If you have never used them, they are very simple and your kit will come with instructions on the back. Each snap has two parts and the fun part is hammering them together :)

Most importantly, make sure your snaps are facing opposite directions so you can snap them together correctly. The first time I did a snap, I made this mistake.

A Freakin' Fantastic Nursery For A BOY!!!

I am LOVING this little boy nursery. Everything about it is clean, fresh, fun and inventive! Check out that alphabet wall, the chevron shelves (that's what I want to call them) and the bright colored fabrics and paint.

I'm also loving the idea of embroidery hoops that look like balls. See that one that looks like a baseball. You could also make on of a basketball, tennis ball, bowling ball, etc. What a great idea for boys! Guest Blogger - 1st Lady of the House - Embroidery Hoop Wall Decor

Hey there Someday Crafts readers.

My name is Camilla and I blog at

1st Lady Of The House.

I'm way happy to be sharing my nursery update with you.

My nursery is on child #2 at this point and I haven't done anything with it since I was pregnant with my first baby. I decide it was time for some updating.

I saw the cute fabric in embroidery hoops all over the blog-o-sphere and Pinterest and I thought it would be a cute and cheap way to spruce up the place.

I wanted my baby's name to be included in the collage so I bought wood letters from Hobby Lobby.

I started collecting embroidery hoops from thrift stores and what I couldn't get there I bought from the Hob Lob as well. I bought fabric from various places.

OK, I primed and spray painted my letters. White Spray Primer, Then a Blue'ish Green'ish color (because I wanted it to come through in the distressing stage) then White Spray paint.

Then I distressed with my electric hand sander (which I bought and this was my first project to use it on! Love it!)

I then hung picture hangers on the back. This process may or may not have made me swear a few times. The nails were teeny tiny itsy bitsy, so stabilizing the nail was close to impossible.

Then this occurred...

Not once but TWICE!

Got out the E6000 and jimmy-rigged the thing because there was no way I was going to get a new letter.

OK, Then to the funnest part...

This was way easy! Put the hoop on the fabric of choice and then trim around the back.

So here is the before picture:

As my baby was growing out of clothes, I would just pile it on top of the dresser to put into the correct bins. The bin you see on the right is the clothes that she was growing into, toys spread around, every single piece of furniture is a different color (not in a good way).

More casualties: I was moving the changing table out and the leg busted off, kinda glad because now I can buy a new one when I ever have another baby (Something to match).

This is the inside of the lamp shade...That is not suppose to be bent like that...Off to Target to get a lamp shade!

Hung the collage! Love it!

I want to take done the alphabet letters. I just didn't have a ladder handy.

Rearranged the furniture around, took out the outdated rug, no more changing table, took down some pictures, cleaned up the massive mess...I'm left with this!

I have collected tea sets since I was a small child.

With all the disasters that happened with this project, I have to mention one more that I didn't take pictures of.

I was all done fixing the room up and the baby was whining, so I put her down for her nap in her new updated room. Ten minutes later she starts crying, I go in and she had thrown up all over in her crib, so I had to tear apart her crib sheets and padding, get out the towels and draped everything else in towels as to not get soiled. So the room lasted for 10 minutes looking like that! Happy Day. Life of a Mother, Right?

Guest Blogger - Binge Crafter - Apple Tree Applique Shirt

and I am so excited to be guest posting here on Someday Crafts!

As my blog name states, I am a binge crafter- I do a little bit of everything and generally in one big binge crafting session. I love paper and fabric crafting especially.

Some of my favorite things to do include:

I absolutely love making cute tee shirts for my daughter- tie dye, fabric paint, appliqué, you name it!

For my Someday Crafts tutorial, I decided to do an early fall project- an apple tree appliqué!

For this project you’ll need:
-An iron and ironing board
-A t-shirt
-Brown and green fabric, prewashed and ironed
-HeatnBond
-Apple tree template (download here)
-Red buttons
-Embroidery thread and needle

Let’s begin!
1. Print the template and cut out the shapes. Cut two pieces of HeatnBond approximately the size of the templates.

2. Iron the pieces of HeatnBond onto the fabric using the silk setting for just a few seconds.

3. Cut out the pieces of fabric and trace the templates onto the HeatnBond. Then cut out the pieces of fabric.

4. At this point, I like to lay things out on the shirt just to see how cute it’s going to look!

5. Peel the paper off the back of the pieces of fabric. Lay them on to the t-shirt.

6. Iron the fabric onto the t-shirt.

7. Using your embroidery thread, sew a running stitch around the edges of the appliqué and sew on the buttons.
