A Few Random Things!!!

Every once in a while, I just need to do post of random items and business and personal things to share! This is one of those posts!

I just have to show off pictures of my family and Remington in his blessing outfit at our church last Sunday! He is such a special little guy. Such an easy going, loving baby! I'm so glad he is in our family!

He is starting to smile and it just makes me heart flutter! I'm definitely in love!


I love my kids!!!! Especially when my son wants to wear his dad's tie to church!

MY LUCKY BREAK IN LIFE!!!!

One of the reason life is so busy is because of my little Paparazzi Accessories business. I had my first party/open house a month ago. I've sold about $2000 in jewelry and accessories in the past month at only 6 events. With a 45% commission, this has been a great investment for me and my family. I'm averaging about $40 a hour in profit (but I'm reinvesting it into the business to money making on steriods). From those events, I have at least 12 more parties booked for the next 6 weeks. I could have more if I wanted them, but my family deserves my time! This pays so much better than my day job. The average party is about $225 company wide so the commission would be about $100 in two hours. I'm hoping to quit soon.

The $5 jewelry is so cute and trendy' and women, teens and tweens love it!!!! There is no reason to go to a mall to spend $15-20 on the items I can sell for $5! BLOGGER MEET-UP
A couple of weeks ago, I attended a blogger meet-up. I see these all over blogland and it seems to be the same popular bloggers. I'm a little intimidated to go to those because I just don't feel "cool" enough. Any of you ever feel that way when you look at other people's blogs and think about meeting them in person? I decided to go to this blogger meet-up and decided I wanted to be "cool." So I made sure I got in just about every picture I could. I laughed about it every time. Bloggers are cool. That is a fact! They are kind. They are accepting. They don't care about my crazy little insecurities. It was fun hanging out with a bunch of wacky, kind DIY ladies.

My Two Month Old Baby!!!!! And Newborn Pictures with Pristine Photo!

I sitting here in shock because I took Remington to his 2-month appt. today!  My tiny, precious newborn is two months old!!!!  He's as healthy as a horse and gaining a lot of weight (12 lbs. 6 oz).   I'm grateful for a healthy baby who is so so so easy going and good.  That makes life much easier.  He loves to be held and wants to be around people (especially me)!   I'm in love!  

We will be blessing Remington in our church in Sunday.  I'm excited to see him in his dapper white tuxedo.  I'll have to post some pictures next week!  

I realize that I never have posted his adorable infant pictures.   My friend, Tina, of Pristine Photo took them!  I think they turned out great!

This is my favorite picture.   Cooper, my three year old, loves tractors and trucks.  I grabbed this Tonka on the way out the door as we were going to the photo shoot.   I was hoping he would fit in the back!  He DID!  Barely!!!

 

Tina bought this 100 year old baby buggy a few days before the photo shoot!  It is a great prop!   We got so many cute ones of Remington in the buggy.   Most of them are up closer, but I just had to have one of the entire buggy!  

 

I learned quite a few photography tricks while Tina shot the photos.   I love head shots of babies resting on their hands!   What a handsome boy!

 

My kids' favorite photo was when Remington decided to pee right after this shot.   Let's just say he sprung a major leak up in the air and Tina caught it on camera!  So funny!

I got 30 awesome pictures of Baby Remington!  You can see a few more HERE.  I'm grateful for the 2 hours that Pristine Photo took capturing the perfect poses of my precious 8-day-old baby!   With my first two kids, I just got the 30-minute session at JC Penney.  While I liked the pictures, I really wish I would have gotten some amazing pictures like these!   I love Pristine Photo and highly recommend Tina for any and all your photography needs! 

Here is Cooper and Remington and Cadence now!   At two months, Remington is alert, interacting, starting to smile and coo, and the center of our universe!   We love having a baby at our house.  

He is such a sweet little monkey!   We love you, Remington!

My Lucky Break In Life (For Me and maybe, You!) Paparazzi Accessories!

It finally happened! For a couple of years, I've been looking.... hoping.... searching for my lucky break in life. Don't we all wish for that? I think I've finally found it!!!!



Because my husband doesn't make a ton of money at his job, I get to help bring in some money and so I'm always searching for ways to make money without going back to teaching school full-time. Last year, I worked at a montessori pre-school where my kids attended and loved it. This year, that job is not working out because of my daughter's kindergarten schedule.

I've tried having an etsy shop and sewing things to sell. I've tried having a blog. All those things take so much time and don't pay well at all. I make about $2 a hour with all those options.

I've been keeping my eyes open for employment opportunities that work with my kids' schedule (and allow me to be home as much as possible) and I am so excited that I found an awesome one! It is an answer to my prayers!



I recently came across a NEW direct sales company called Paparazzi.

They sell fashionable jewelry and accessories at an amazing price. Every product is ONLY $5. The products are so cute and so reasonable that people can't help but buy a ton! Below are just a few of the offerings of the company. (Remember, they are only $5 each!)

This business is similar to company like Scentsy, Pampered Chef, Mary Kay, Stampin' Up (etc.) only much better. It is a direct sales company that is just getting started, and as I see it, has the potential for so much growth and success. Of all the direct sales companies that hold "parties," Paparazzi is, by far, the winner - in my opinion. Here's why I think this:









*The jewelry is inexpensive (everything is $5), adorable and current with the trends. The jewelry literally sells itself. People buy a lot of it because is costs so little!!!! Instead of buying one necklace at a store in the mall for $20 and then matching earrings for an additional $10, a Paparazzi customer can buy 6 pieces of jewelry for the same price!!! SCORE!







*The customer doesn't have to make an order, pay for shipping and wait a week to get their things. They can take it home immediately because the jewelry is on-site. And the consultant doesn't have to do deliveries and follow-up with problems that arise from wrong shipments!







*The commission rate on each piece of jewelry is great (45%). So for every piece of jewelry a consultant sells, they make about $2.25. I'm excited to have a party where $500 is sold because I will get to take home over $225 in one night. That's more than I make from my blog for a month!!! At most parties, a consultant will sell between $150-$350 in jewelry. That's $70-$157 for just 3 hours of work. Not too bad! (I'm doing a small town fair in a few weeks and am hoping to make $400 in one day!!!)





*"Parties" are actually open houses. Customers come and go at their own time and own pace. I don't have to say much because the jewelry sells itself. Set the jewelry up, and watch women hyperventilate over the great deal on a gorgeous product they want and already use. No high pressure speeches like I've felt at some Mary Kay and Pampared Chef parties!!!!



*The rules of Paparazzi are very consultant friendly. You can put their product in retails sites. If you already own a business, you can add this to shelves. There are so many fun things I can do to sell this product that I wouldn't be able to do with some of the other direct sales companies.





*Paparazzi is NEW. For those people who join and start building a business, the quick growth they experience now will financially benefit them BIG TIME - especially in a few months (and years). There are less than 750 consultants in the whole company right now. Compare that to a company that has 100,000 consultants who have already done 1,000,000 parties.





*When a consultant books a party, multiple guests want to host a party to receive free jewelry. It has been easy to get parties planned (Because the company is new and not oversaturated the market with their product.) This means more money for you!





*On top of the direct commission a consultant earns when they sell products, they also receive money from people who join their team when they make sales. This is a great chance to be a leader and a friend. There always seems to be promotions for great prizes going on too!





I really could write 10 more reasons I think that me finding Paparazzi is my lucky break and such a blessing to our family. I plan to benefit from all they offer.

A Little Heart-To-Heart About Blogging

I want to thank everyone who guest blogged for me while I was away on maternity leave. The tutorials were awesome and it was nice to have a break! I can't believe that Remington is already 6 weeks old!

Time passes so quickly when you have 3 kids! Because I am so busy, the days and nights fly by.

Remington is such a good baby! He rarely is fussy and sleeps well at night. My other two kids have adapted well to this big change in their life. They love their brother!

I love my little guy! There is something so sweet and special about the bond between a baby and its mommy. He knows me, loves me, wants me and brings me such joy!

Our life, as a family of 5, is truly a party. I'm loving the new addition and all the fun moments it has brought. We are just so blessed to have happy and healthy kids! I look forward to all the coming moments that I get to share with these incredible people. Family rocks!



Thanks for all the kind messages and little notes about my family and me. It means so much to me that you care about my life outside of blogging. A few of you have asked how I have been handling everything ,and for the most part, it hasn't been too bad. Unfortunately, I think life is going to change in a few weeks when school starts and we have to be out of the house before 10am!!! I have been doing A LOT of thinking about how I am going to handle everything - especially this blog.

There are days when I love blogging and there are days when I don't want to turn the computer on, but I do because I feel obligated. There are moments when I just want to quit for so many reasons. I compare. I get discouraged. I wonder why isn't my blog bigger, better and more popular. Some days, I spend way too much on the computer and not enough time giving my kids the full attention they need. Some times I wonder if my blog makes any positive difference at all. Does my blog matter? Any of you feel this similar way?

I didn't start this blog to make money. I started this blog to save projects of things I wanted to learn how to make because I am not a very crafty person. When I started getting some followers, I had this crazy thought that "maybe I can make some money off this blog." And so, I went for it. I spent more and more time highlighting cool projects and trying to build a blog. It became one of my jobs. I had no idea what I was doing.

And now, three years later, I still don't know what I am doing. I do make some money, but not enough to justify the time I spend blogging. The original intent of my blog has definitely changed because I don't have much time to make the projects I am highlighting. I ask myself often "Why?" Why am I doing this? For those of you wondering, I earn about $140-$180 a month from this blog and I spend probably 80-90 hours a month on this blog. That's not a great income!

I've been doing a lot of thinking and some things will be changing on this blog. I will be accepting more guest bloggers. If you want to guest blog, shoot me an email. I'd love to have you. I plan to have two posts a day like I had the past month. I still plan to host the Wednesday party and Giveaway Directory on Thursday. I will highlight a charity once a month. I've got to cut down on the amount of time I spend on the computer and this blog. It just isn't worth it to me. However, I hope you will continue to come to this blog for inspiration because I still plan to highlight amazing ideas found throughout blogland.

Please make submissions of your best projects. Please volunteer to guest post! Please keep creating projects that inspire me and others!!! Just don't expect me to reply to every email I receive and every comment that is made. I just can't do it! The world is in need of creativity and joy!

Sneak Peek of A Great Project!

A few months ago, I was contacted by the wonderful women at How Does She? and asked to participate in a something to benefit the people in the Japanese earthquake/tsunami. I gladly said I would love to be involved since I had seen videos of the devastation. Who wouldn't want to help if they could?

Remington's Birth Story In PICTURES!

Since today is Sunday, I wanted to share with you something of a spiritual nature. It is the birth of my newest son, Remington. I can't believe he is almost one month old already!!! He's such a good baby. He sleeps so well and rarely cries. I can't cuddle and kiss him enough!!!! I'm smittenly in love with him! We feel so blessed. There is NOTHING like a newborn baby!

For those of you that have been blessed to have given birth, do you remember the first few minutes, few hours, few days with that new baby straight from heaven? When you hold a newborn, can't you feel the love of God and that baby's strong spirit? Birth is such a spiritual event. Overwhelming light, love and joy stream into my soul. The connection I feel with God is so real and tangible. There is no denying a God who helps my body make a perfect baby and then sends a perfect spirit to occupy that body. Everytime I look into my son's eyes or smell his new skin or feel his small, yet strong grasp, my faith in God is renewed and strengthened. The spiritual feelings at my home have flooded in abundantly the past month and I am so grateful for this new baby and the hand of God in my family's life.

I also have a new blessing to count with this birth that I didn't have with my oldest two children. To make a long story short, I was in the right place at the right time (Thank you Lowe's workshops) and was offered something I couldn't refuse. A very kind stranger photographed Remington being born so I could have pictures of this amazing, spiritual experience forever. These are just a few of the 400 photos Ashley took. More touching than the photos is the slide show she put together to the perfect song. I've watched it at least 50 times and I still cry tears of joy and happiness. Everytime I view it, I am brought back to that special, miraculous event and feel that strong spiritual connection.

I hope you enjoy seeing these few photos of one of the most spiritual and reverent moments of my life and sharing this incredible experience with my family and me. May you also feel God's love for each one of us as you look at these amazing photos.

Even my sweet kids felt that special reverence for new life when they first got to meet the baby. They were still and quiet and so in touch with heaven when they held him and looked at him. That labor and delivery room was as spiritual a place as any when the kids were meeting their new sibling!

Please experience the joy and happiness our family has felt for the past 3 1/2 weeks by viewing Remington's birth story in pictures. Don't worry, it is classy and doesn't show anything that would embarrass me (and I'm a private person so that is saying something).

We are home from the hospital and happy to be a family of 5!!!!

My almost 5-yr-old will not put the baby down! She is loving being a big sister!!!

In just two days, Remington is much less puffy, opening his eyes, sucking on a binkie, nursing well, pooping like crazy and being spoiled! We love our new creation!

Well, I'm a pretty big girl by now! My belly is poking out quite a bit. I've gained some weight!

It's hard for my kids to give me hugs and to see past my belly! They like giving the baby belly kisses and talking to it.


Most of the "big" things I wanted to get done before the baby got here are done... mainly, the baby's room.

The crib is set up and the kids are excited to get a new baby brother!

What does that mean? It means it is TIME TO GET THAT BABY OUT of my belly!

Tomorrow morning, I will be heading to the hospital to be induced. I need to be out of the hospital by June 30th and tomorrow is a great day to have a baby.

Food Can Stilts (A tutorial from me - Surprise!)

In case you missed this last week, here is a guest post I did at Brassy Apple for a fun and easy summertime activity!

Today, I am showing how to make some

EASY, INEXPENSIVE and QUICK food can stilts.

After I get home from work, the kids and I play for hours. They are so much fun! These stilts (or rompers, as they were called when I was younger) are one of their favorite activities. It builds great coordination and forces the kids to work on their balance.

Materials:
-Two emptied cans of food (28oz or larger)
-Two pieces of rope or heavy duty string, each at least 1 yard long
-A sharp object that can puncture metal, i.e. screwdriver, knife
-Spray paint (optional)

1. Empty two large cans of foods. These are 29oz. fruits. If you use smaller cans, they will be less sturdy. Wash out the cans!

2. Peel the labels from the cans and gather your spray paint. I got this Krylon outdoor spray paint at the dollar store! SCORE!!! (Those are my cute kiddos!!!)

3. If you are brave, let your kids spray paint the outside of the cans. Allow the paint dry. (My kids like to help with everything I do. That's why I don't get much done!!!)

4. Using a sharp object, punch two holes through the can on opposites sides. I used some type of knife. The holes need to be near the top of the can where a lid still exists. I do NOT recommend letting your kids do this part!

5. The holes need to be large enough to fit your handle through. When I inserted the knife, I wiggles it back a forth a bit to make the hole wide enough.

6. Cut your handle material. I used something called mule rope (or at least that is what my husband told me it is called.) It is like a strong flat rope. I suggest a rope or heavy duty string. I would also suggest at least a yard or more of material. It depends on the height of the person for whom you are making it. The handle should come about half way between the knee and hips or whatever is comfortable. Insert your handle material through the holes from the outside to the inside.

7. When the handle material is inside the can, tie the ends in double knots. You can burn the ends of the rope if you want. You are finished!

Here is one pair of spray painted and one unspray painted cans. If you don't paint your cans, there is a chance the cans can rust. I have tied knots in the handles of one pair to make them easier for my younger/shorter son to use. That is an easy way to adapt the handles for smaller kids.

Walk. Walk. Walk. I did want to mention that the food cans can/will bend if they are stepped on sideways. I just bend them back into place the best I can and let the kids continue clanking around.

These were a hit at my kids' birthday party last year! (Kids under the age of 3 may have a hard time balancing on these. Use your judgement as to when kids are old enough to play with these.) The neighbors love to play with these toys.
